Calling all dog lovers! There’s a host of pawsome fun for you and your pooch this weekend.
The Tower Vets veterinary group are hosting their first ever Dog Fete and there’s a whole host of canine-focused activities to enjoy – including a fun dog show, have-a-go-agility, hay bale racing, behaviour clinics, shopping opportunities and street food.
The Tower Dog Fete will take place on Knavesmire on Saturday (2 September) from 10am to 4pm.
The event is free to attend.
The dog show will offer 11 classes – such as the cutest puppy, scruffiest mutt, best biscuit catcher and best paw shaker. All the prize winners will go head-to-head at the end of the afternoon to discover who is best in show.
The dog show starts at 11am and it costs £3 per class to enter.
There will be a Breed Meet Up area to meet like-minded owners, with different breeds represented from Rottweilers to Retrievers and German Shepherds to Spaniels.
“We’re very excited to be hosting our first ever Dog Fete and we’re looking forward to welcoming owners and their four-legged friends to The Knavesmire for what promises to be a fun day out,” said Lucy Jarvis from Tower Vets.
“We’re also delighted to be working closely with York Dog Park who are bringing a bit of adrenaline with their hay bale racing competition, amongst other activities, and we have some brilliant local businesses represented.”
The event has been organised in aid of Tower Vets’ Stray & Wildlife Fund, which helps the practice provide treatment to ill and injured wildlife and pets that don’t have an owner to care for them.
“We’ve recently had a lot of birds and hedgehogs brought into our branches across York who urgently require attention, so this event couldn’t have come at a better time to help us raise the funds we vitally need for their veterinary care,” said Lucy.
Members of the Tower Vets team will be on hand throughout the day to answer your doggy healthcare questions.
