This is just some of the rubbish left in one day by the side of the river in York.
It was photographed on the field behind St Peter’s School by resident India Luck.
She then spent a long time collecting the litter, which including beer bottles and takeaway cartons, and bagging it up.
She collected eight bags of rubbish in total.
The mess was left after the warm weather yesterday brought out picnickers on day two after the most strict lockdown measures were eased.
India told YorkMix: “It’s definitely the worst I’ve ever seen it – broken glass everywhere and just a huge amount of disrespect shown to an area that’s meant to be enjoyed by everyone.”
The same problem was in evidence in and around Rowntree Park.
The Friends of Rowntree Park shared these pictures on their social channels and said today: “Sadly still a bit of a state today. Evidence of two attempted fires and lots of rubbish from picnics. The play park particularly bad.
“Millennium Bridge a state. Field over the bridge near Danesmead a state. If you see a green bag it means a volunteer has been out cleaning up after others.
“Our volunteers are already out and about cleaning up after others. We shouldn’t have to. #dontbeatosser”
