Taxi stolen from York station crashes after police pursuit

The taxi was taken from York station

A man has been arrested after a taxi was stolen from York Railway Station and crashed on the A64.

Police were called at 3.04pm on Wednesday (September 27) to reports that the taxi had been taken from outside the station.

The vehicle was then driven out of York city centre and on to the westbound carriageway of the A64.

Officers were in pursuit of the stolen taxi. The National Police Air Service helicopter was called in to assist North Yorkshire Police.

The taxi crashed into another vehicle at Bowbridge Farm, near Bilbrough Top.

There is not to believed to be any injuries in the other vehicle.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the incident but has been taken to York Hospital by ambulance after feeling unwell.
