Tanker driver cut free from wreckage after four-vehicle pile-up near York

A driver has serious injuries after a collision between a car, van, tanker and tipper truck.
The four-vehicle crash happened at 11.40am today (Wednesday) on the A19 near York between Shipton by Beningbrough and Skelton.
Both carriageways were closed while emergency services worked at the scene.
It involved a white Isuzu water tanker, a white Ford Transit van, black Mitsubishi L200, and a flat-bed Ford Transit tipper truck.
The driver of the tanker had to be freed by firefighters and was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening.
The other drivers, all men, received treatment from paramedics for less serious injuries.
Emergency services reopened the southbound carriageway at 2pm. After the tanker was recovered, the northbound carriageway reopened at 4.45pm.
Police are urging witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
