York is set to burst with colour and excitement next weekend as the city hosts the third edition of the Flowers & Flames Festival, to mark midsummer.
The festivities will take place on Saturday 15 June, transforming the historic street of Goodramgate into a vibrant celebration, organised by the Goodramgate Traders Association.
Coinciding with Father’s Day, the festival promises a day packed with thrilling performances, family-friendly activities, and exciting competitions.
The event will begin at 11.30am with an opening ceremony at Monk Bar, led by the new Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Martin Rowley.
Following the ceremony, the Lord Mayor will lead a procession through the street, joined by a some steampunk morris men and women.
Cllr Rowley will also judge a window dressing competition, where local businesses will showcase their creativity with floral and fire-themed displays to mark the occasion.

• Juggling: From 12.15 pm in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church
• Fire-Eating: A performance at 2 pm in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church
• Stilt-Walker: Entertainment throughout the day
• Fire-Themed Face Painting: From Noon to 4 pm, with fiery designs for all ages
• Children’s Trail and Treasure Hunt
• Raven Morris Dancers: Traditional performances bringing energy and rhythm to the streets
Zoe Sinclair, chair of the Goodramgate Traders Association, said: “We are thrilled to bring the Flowers and Flames Festival to Goodramgate for the third year running, especially on a day that celebrates fathers.

The festival is a free event, and it welcomes everyone to join in on the Midsummer celebrations.
