Stolen car report leads to drugs arrest on the A1

North Yorkshire traffic officers found more than they were expecting when they stopped this car on the A1 near Wetherby.
A hire company reported it stolen after the perosn using it had failed to pay the bill.
However, a strong smell of cannabis from the vehicle suggested something else was going on.
When it was stopped and searched by officers from the Roads Policing Group and Operational Support Unit, they found a large bag of cannabis in the boot.
The driver, a man from London in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of the theft of the vehicle, and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
He was also arrested for driving without a licence or insurance.
The car has been returned to its rightful owner.
