St Nicholas Fair

For the first time St Nicholas Fair will run for a total of 25 days this year. Get into the holiday spirit with Parliament Street’s popular street market – there’ll be stalls of potential gifts, winter food and festive wooden huts to complete the scene. Till Sunday, Dec 21 daily from 9am – 6pm.

Gang Show 2014


Joseph Rowntree Theatre and The York Scouts and Guides present their youth extravaganza Gang Show: Sailing On. Be prepared to be treated to an evening of songs, dancing and entertainment from York’s cast of Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Brownies and Rangers. Runs until Saturday, Nov 29 at 7.15pm with a 2pm matinee on Sat.

Minster Advent Procession


In preparation for the Nativity, York Minster celebrate the first day of Advent with their candle-lit procession. Starting at 5.15pm on Sunday, Nov 30, there will be a spreading of light throughout the cathedral combined with music, readings and prayers.

Sing for SASH


There’s music in the air across York thanks to homeless charity SASH. Local buskers have united to raise money and generally provide tunes for passing pedestrians. These include Nathan O’Grady (pictured), Chris Helme, Heather Chung, Sarah Hardman and more. This Saturday, Nov 29 from 10am – 4pm at various locations in the city centre including the Coppergate Centre.
