mix-six-logo-rightWith crazy capers in King’s Square, classic cars for dad at Murton and the Tour de Tang Hall, there’s no excuse for staying in this weekend. And if you want to know what else is on, check our wonderful What’s On Guide.

Vintage car weekend

Take your dad out in style this Father’s Day at Murton Park’s Vintage Weekend, complete with a steam train, lots of antique cars and scooters (and even a special double-decker bus). Saturday, June 14 – Sunday 15 from 10am – 5pm.

Tour de Tang Hall

Forget the Tour de France, join the Tour de Tang Hall this Sunday, June 15 as the local community hosts a tour from Tang Hall Community Centre to Derwenthorpe and Hull Road Park. There’ll be a barbecue, refreshments and plenty of fun activities for children – including face painting and willow-weaving. Have a ‘wheely’ good time from 1 – 4pm.

King’s Square Fest

York’s very own King’s Square is (finally) finished and ready to be christened with this exciting one-day festival. There will be a range of entertainment from crazy knife-throwing, juggling unicyclists to York Dance Works and let’s not forget escapologist Rob Roy Collins. This Saturday, June 14 from 11am – 5pm.

York Carnival

Summer has truly arrived so join York Carnival as they brighten up Parliament Street for the tenth year running. It’s a circus-themed bash with free stalls, music and a parade organised by the University of York. Don your headdress and get partying this Saturday, June 14 from 10am – 6pm.

Does your dad like tinkering with things? Then take him along to the Father’s Day Meccano Challenge at York Castle Museum on Saturday, June 15 (not Father’s Day itself) from 10am – 3pm. Make an awesome model to impress your family (and beat all the other dads) which will be entered into an important test at the end of the day. The winner will not only get a goody bag, but their creation will be put on display.

Summer sale

Head to St Lawrence’s Church this Saturday, June 14 to support a great cause with St Leonard’s Hospice Summer Fair and Craft Sale. Win some fab prizes with their raffle, try your hand at LindyHop, browse the vintage and handmade stalls, or just dig into some cake with a nice cup of tea. From 1 – 4pm.
