A shop worker was badly shaken after being robbed at knifepoint in York.

The robbery took place at the BNT shop on Nunthorpe Road.

Shortly after 7pm on the night of Thursday 9 May a suspect entered the store and threatened a member of staff with a knife and demanded cash before leaving with a bottle of alcohol.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Although the staff member was not physically injured, she was very shaken up by what happened.”

Police in York have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery and a 29-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender following the incident.

Both have been released on bail.
