A clean-up took place this morning after a shop doorway was set alight in York.
Rubbish in the doorway, next to the Ann Summers shop on High Ousegate, was set alight in the early hours of Friday (October 13).
York firefighters were called out at 4.54am.
The heat from the fire cracked the shop window, and activated smoke alarms.
Firefighers put out the rubbish fire, and requested keyholders for both premises via police.
Police are treating the incident as arson and an investigation is ongoing.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We were called by the fire service at 5.11am this morning following a fire in a shop doorway on High Ousegate.
“There are no reports of any injuries.”
Cleaners from the York BID team were on hand helping with the clear-up at 8.30am.
