What a fantastic first YorkMix Family Raceday!
Thousands of people of all ages flocked to York Racecourse for a day packed with activities, entertainment, and great racing.
With children getting in for free, families poured onto Knavesmire. The young racegoers loved meeting Peter Rabbit and Mixie the Monster, as well as bouncing on the inflatables.
Lots of children had their faces painted, and three were chosen as winners, receiving prizes from The Potions Cauldron.
There was sheep shearing and sheep dancing. Police and fire officers were on hand keeping the children entertained too. The Lord Mayor Cllr Chris Cullwick was there too.
The sport began with young jockeys taking part in pony racing. And the main card didn’t disappoint with fans packed into the stands cheering on their favourites.
