Man dies in car accident on A19 near York

Police are describing the accident as serious
The road was closed while police investigated the accident
A man was killed when his car left the road and went into a ditch on Monday (June 29).

The driver of a black BMW, a 62 year old man from the Castleford area, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred on the A19 at the Forest Lane junction near Easingwold.

Emergency services were at the scene soon after the call at 11.45am. Sadly the man had died in the crash.

The road was closed while police investigate but reopened later. The man who died has not been named.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the BMW 5 series prior to the collision is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
