Selby Police say there have been a number of purse dipping incidents, where purses were stolen from peoples bags while they were distracted.

Females in their 70’s & 80’s were targeted when they were in local shops.

On some occasions the stolen bank cards have been used very quickly after the theft.

Young females aged around 17 yrs old have been distracting the victims by asking them questions or asking them to reach for items on shop shelving.

While trying to help they have had their purses stolen. There may also be other offenders carrying out these thefts.

Selby Police say they would be very grateful if you could please pass this information on to relatives to keep them safe, especially if they are more vulnerable for any reason.
