Selby murder update: Five people now under arrest
North Yorkshire Police tonight issued an update on their murder inquiry after a man’s death in Selby.
We reported earlier that police and paramedics were called to a property on Millgate at about 1.15am this morning (Thursday) after reports of a disturbance.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a murder investigation was launched.
Tonight, Detective Superintendent Wayne Fox has issued an update.
“The investigation following last night’s incident in Selby is continuing,” he said.
“A 21-year-old man who was arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of murder currently remains in police custody.
“Today, we have also made a further four arrests in relation to this investigation.”
Det Supt Fox added:
Understandably this incident is shocking for members of the local community, but I would like to stress that we are currently treating this as an isolated incident.
Members of the public should expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as a way of us reassuring the local community.
