A runner had to be rescued after a herd of cows took against him today (Friday).
Firefighters from Acomb saved the day after they were called to the incident at Overton near York at 8am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said the man was out for a morning run when he “had been chased by a herd of cows and had to climb a tree.

“Once in the tree the cows had surrounded him and he was unable to get to safety.
“On arrival of crews the local farmer had come across the incident and moved the cows on allowing the runner to climb down.”
It wasn’t the only bovine-based call for help to the fire service today. At 2.18pm, fire control were phoned by a woman walking her dog who had been chased down an embankment next to the river at Naburn.
Luckily, during the call the woman was able to climb back up and get to a place of safety.
