Popular York restaurant reopens with a new look, new name and new menu
‘The Press Kitchen’ on Walmgate has gotten a Spanish makeover as Ambiente have rebranded and reopened the restaurant as Tabanco at Ambiente.
The new restaurant reopened on Monday 12 April.
The owners of the popular tapas restaurant Ambiente first opened The Press Kitchen in 2018, and served cuisine inspired by places all over the world. Now, they’ve gone back to their roots.
Tabanco at Ambiente is inspired by the informal tapas bars of southern Spain, with a menu reflecting the food of the region.
The menu includes mouth-watering dishes such as Fabada de Pancheta, a cassoulet of pork belly, chorizo and beans; Gambas al Ajillo, prawns with confit peppers and chilli; Coliflor Marroqui, cauliflower steak with tahini and pomegranate; and of course, everyone’s favourite, the classic Patatas Bravas.
The style of the restaurant is perfect for a quick bite to eat with a beer, or a more leisurely lunch over a bottle of wine.
Typically, the tabanco bars in Spain are almost always indoor venues but Tabanco at Ambiente also has a courtyard dining area – perfect for some al fresco tapas.
Due to the current restrictions, only the courtyard will be open to diners for now to stay in line with the government guidelines.
Tabanco at Ambiente courtyard will be open 11am – 6:30pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am – 5pm on Sundays. To book your table call 01904 809565 or email [email protected] For more information, please visit their website here.
