Investigation launched after police van and ambulance collide near York
We now have more details on the crash which closed the A64 for several hours overnight.
It has been revealed that the two vehicles involved were a police van and an ambulance.
They collided on the A64 at Flaxton Moor, near the junction for Scotchman Lane.
It happened at around 10.40pm yesterday (Sunday). But the road stayed closed until 8am today as investigation work was carried out.
One woman had to be cut free from her vehicle by firefighters. She was believed to have suffered a broken arm and cuts and bruises.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The occupants of both vehicles, who were all emergency services workers, were taken to hospital for checks but released following medical assessment.
“The collision is being investigated as a matter of course and anyone who witnessed it or has dashcam footage is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police.”
