A woman who was threatening to throw herself in the river was talked down by police early this morning.
The woman said she was going to jump in the Ouse from Scarborough Bridge.
Police were called to the incident at about 2.45am.
Fire crews from Acomb and the fire service boat crew went to the scene a few minutes lataer.
A spokesperson from the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews stood by while police carried out negotiations with the female to persuade her to climb down.”
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “She voluntarily attended waiting paramedics before being taken to hospital where she received mental health support.”
