A road that was cordoned off the discovery of a grenade has reopened.
Police closed Masham Road at Firby, near Bedale, after a Second World War-era hand grenade was found by a metal detectorist at 10.55am today (Saturday).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said then: “A safety cordon has been put in place while military bomb disposal experts assess the grenade.”
The bomb squad have now carried out a controlled explosion of the grenade.
