Police have launched an investigation after a major fire at a building in York.
Fire crews from four stations – Acomb, Huntington, York and Easingwold – responded to the blaze on Shipton Road, Rawcliffe, at 7.25pm last night (Wednesday).
They found the second floor of a derelict building well alight.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The premises sustained 80% fire damage to the second floor and smoke damage throughout.
“Crews used two hose reel jets, ten breathing apparatus, one aerial ladder platform, spreaders, cutters, door enforcer, small tools and lighting at the incident.”
They said the cause is believed deliberate and is now under investigation by police.
