A body was found on York’s Knavesmire this morning (Thursday).
Multiple police cars, fire engines and ambulance crews were called to the scene at 7.45am.
The incident was just off Tadcaster Road, close to the turn-off to Knavesmire Road.
Fire crews have now left the scene, but police and paramedics were still there at 9am.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called just after 7.45am today after a man’s body was discovered near a footpath at the edge of the Knavesmire.

“Enquiries are ongoing but we’re not treating his death as suspicious.
“There continues to be a police presence in the area as part of our response.”
Traffic is unaffected on Tadcaster Road, and there are no restrictions on Knavesmire.
