A popular riverside bar in York has reopened after a six-figure sum was invested in giving it a fresh look.
Slug & Lettuce York Riverside, on Low Ousegate, was closed for a week while the refurb was carried out.
The bar features a new mural, five display arches with shelving, and a reeded panel finish in gold.
And it’s lit by concealed colour-changing LED strip lights, which can change the ambience to suit the mood.
There’s new wallpaper and fresh décor throughout. Existing fixed booth seating has been re-upholstered in vibrant fabrics.
General manager Thomas Haigh said: “This investment has transformed Slug & Lettuce York Riverside into an absolute showstopper that we know our guests will love.
“The new design elements are not only visually stunning but also create a warm and inviting atmosphere for all our guests. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and show off what we’ve been working hard on behind the scenes!”

The Slug & Lettuce is owned by the Stonegate Group. A spokesperson said: “A highlight of the York Riverside bar’s offerings is its bottomless brunch, featuring a menu of delicious bites and unlimited drinks.
“The experience combines socialising and indulgence, making it the best way to start the day with a group of friends.”
