A horse decided to take a dip in a swimming pool – and it took a crew of firefighters to get her out again.
The crew were called to the unusual incident on Wistow Road, Selby, at 6.43pm yesterday (Friday).
Station Manager Tony Walker, who took these photos, said: “Twelve-year-old Pippa got confused when someone said ‘anyone for a game of polo’ – she thought they meant water polo so jumped in the pool!

“Fortunate for her, a crew of horse whisperers from Selby managed to lift her from the cold water and help her to a warm barn.”
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Pippa was safely retrieved from the pool and left in the care of her owners. Crews used strops and crew power.”
