A pedestrian has been hurt in a serious collision in York city centre today (Sunday).

As we reported on our live blog, police were called to reports of a collision in the early hours of this morning.

Police have now disclosed that the accident involved a grey estate car and a pedestrian.

It happened on Station Road, close to Rougier Street, and the force control room first tweeted about the collision at 5.18am.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:

  • The road was closed for a number of hours to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

An investigation remains ongoing today and the road has been reopened.

We don’t yet have any details about the injuries or condition of the pedestrian.

If you witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage, please contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and quote reference number NYP09022020-0057.
