Legendary panto dame Berwick Kaler will be missing from at least two shows due to Covid.
Berwick, 75, is the writer and star of Dick Turpin Rides Again at the Grand Opera House in York.
Both yesterday’s performances were cancelled due to members of the company coming down with Covid-19.

Today’s two shows will go ahead as scheduled – but without Berwick or his long-standing sidekick Martin Barrass.
Both are awaiting the results of Covid tests. Their understudies will take their place in today’s performances (Monday, 3 January) at 1pm and 5pm.
A statement released by the Grand Opera House said: “While Berwick Kaler and Martin Barrass await the result of PCR tests, at today’s performances the part of Dotty Donut will be played by actor, comedian and much-loved panto dame, Alan McHugh and Dunkin Donut will be played by Mr Barrass’ understudy Jack Buchanan.
“Tickets remain valid and we cannot wait to welcome audiences to Dick Turpin Rides Again.
“We want to thank our audiences for their continued support and understanding.”
If Berwick and Martin do test positive, it would mean the end of the run for them – the show finishes on Sunday. Current rules state that people must self-isolate for ten days after the day of a positive test result.
