More than 70 students are bringing Mary Poppins Jr to life at a York school this week.
The Vaudeville theatre at The Joseph Rowntree School has been transformed into Cherry Tree Lane as a cast of more than 70 students ranging from Year 7 to Year 13 have staged the family favourite.
From the dancers’ perfect performances in Step in Time to ensemble classics like Let’s Go Fly a Kite and Jolly Holiday, the cast have really stepped up to the occasion and produced a wonderful show.
More than 500 primary school children enjoyed preview performances at the start of the week, with a feedback session to the principal performers, Eva Howe (Mary Poppins), Matthew Warry (Bert), Cece Campbell (Jane Banks), James Roberts (Michael Banks) and Will Roberts (George Banks).
Producer and assistant headteacher, Rachael Clarke said: “The Joseph Rowntree School really embraces our annual Vaudeville productions, and it really is a school community event.

“We have performed in all school assemblies and to our local primary schools in two packed performances already!
“It has been wonderful working with such a large number of both staff and students to stage Mary Poppins, and it has to be said the end performance was outstanding.
“A huge well done to everybody involved.”
Four performances will then take place, with capacity audiences on Tuesday and Wednesday at 5pm and 7.30pm. Limited tickets are still available on the door, priced at £7.
