Grab your deck chairs and your bean bags, York’s newest outdoor cinema is pitching up this summer.
The Great Outdoor Cinema will be screening Dirty Dancing, Jurassic Park, and The Lion King at York Racecourse from 9 to 11 August 2021.
From the founders of The Drive-In Cinema, who visited York this April, event goers can look forward to enjoying cinema outdoors in a safe and socially distanced setting.

- 9th August – Dirty Dancing
- 10th August – Jurassic Park
- 11th August – The Lion King
Doors open at 7:45pm with the films starting at 9pm.
As well as the film entertainment, there will be a selection of street food to enjoy alongside the classic cinema snacks like popcorn and ice blasts.
There will also be a mobile bar on site, so you can sit back and enjoy the film with your tipple of choice.

Callum Campbell, founder of The Drive-In Cinema and The Great Outdoor Cinema, said “2020 was all about social distancing, 2021 is time to get outside and make up for lost fun and entertainment.”
Tickets for The Great Outdoor Cinema are on sale from this Friday (25th June) at 11am.
Tickets can be purchased online here and are priced at £11.25 per adult and £8 per child.
Deck chairs can be hired for £5 but event goers are also encouraged to bring their own camping chairs, blankets or rugs.
