It’s one heck of a withdrawal. Thieves used a digger to smash into the wall of the Co-Op in Haxby, York, and remove the cash machine.

Police were alerted at about 2.25am on Thursday (January 22) after an alarm was activated in the Ryedale Court store.

The thieves had used a yellow telehander truck to remove the ATM before driving off with it on the back of a pick-up truck.

The Caterpillar telehandler was left at the scene.

Officers are making extensive enquiries to identify the people involved and are urging any witnesses to come forward.
