The bad weather has led one North Yorkshire gardens to close.
RHS Harlow Carr, near Harrogate, will shut tomorrow (Friday, 20 October). Its Autumn Garden Weekend event on Saturday and Sunday has been cancelled too.
An RHS spokesperson said: “Unfortunately due to the forecast of extreme wind and rain expected on Friday due to Storm Babet, we have made the very difficult decision to close the RHS Garden Harlow Carr and cancel our Autumn Garden Weekend event.
“The extreme weather means it will not be possible to set up the event as planned on Friday and therefore the garden will be closed in order to ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers.
“We will continue to monitor the weather and are currently planning to re-open the garden as usual on Saturday 21st October.”
They said the RHS Late Fruit and Vegetable Competition and the apple display from the Northern Fruit Group will still go ahead on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd October in the Learning Centre.
Harrogate is facing an amber weather warning from midday tomorrow to 6am on Saturday.
The spokesperson added: “We are very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this is likely to cause and we thank you for your understanding. “
Anyone who has booked tickets in advance and would now like to cancel, should contact [email protected] for a refund.
There will be more updates on the Harlow Carr website and via its social media.
