It’s hundreds of years old.
But in all those centuries, we don’t suppose Shambles has seen anything quite like this.
A huge movie crew, loads of extras – and a dramatic chase involving two motorbikes.
This was day two of shooting Bollywood movie Commando 3 in York. After starting the action by the river on Wednesday, the team brought it to the medieval Shambles.
They were shooting from 6am to 10am, with the street closed during those hours.
Leaves were scattered down the tree-less street to give more movement to the chase footage.
Cameras filmed via drones, on a buggy and inside the Shambles shops.
Then they were gone, giving the street back to the shopkeepers and tourists.

More filming on Shambles today with the street shut and motorbikes roaring up and down…. but some prior notice would have been appreciated and a less heavy handed approach to people going to work in businesses on the street ! pic.twitter.com/wdw6CsDPIx
