The restaurant that evolved from a top York street stall has announced its opening date.
Los Moros will open on Thursday 11 October.
Run by Tarik Abdeladim, whose food stall in Shambles Market made it to the top of the TripAdvisor ratings, the new restaurant will serve modern North African food, all day every day.
The menu will feature favourites such as spiced lamb sausages, called merguez, as well as new dishes like beef short rib with preserved lemons, whipped feta, and briks – small crisp pastry parcels filled with crab and deep fried.
And Los Moros’ signature falafel will also be there, alongside other vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Lunches and treats

We’re hoping people will make Los Moros their midweek lunch spot, as well as something for a treat at the weekend.
We’ve built our reputation at the stall on a sociable, informal eating experience and we want the new restaurant to continue this sense of fun and community.
There’s a courtyard outside which will make a great day time space if people want to come in for a coffee, and we’re looking at creating a private dining room for parties too.
Bookings now open
Los Moros is now taking bookings by email at [email protected], and by phone from next week “once we get a phone line!” said Tarik.
“The response to us opening the restaurant has been overwhelming; we’ve had some wonderful messages of support and getting ready to open is a big team effort.
“We’re always looking for great people to join the team so if you are interested, please do get in touch or come and see us on the stall in the Shambles Market.”
