A highly-anticipated restaurant is soon to open in York.
We reported last autumn that the pub Riverside Farm, on Shipton Road, Skelton was set to close – with owner Greene King to transform it into a Hickory’s Smokehouse.
Now, it’s been announced that the barbecue Southern-inspired restaurant will be opening its doors on Monday 24 February.

Work has been ongoing to transform the previous Riverside Farm into the smokehouse restaurant in time for opening.
Hickory’s Smokehouse is inspired by the southern states of the US, and the menu will feature smokehouse classics like 16hr smoked brisket, Memphis baby-back ribs, hand-pulled pork and smoked chicken wings.
Also on the menu will be burgers, subs, and a ‘smokehouse platter’ for those who can’t quite make up their mind.
Bookings for Hickory’s York are now open via the website.

The first Hickory’s Smokehouse was opened in 2010 in Chester.
In October 2022 it was announced that Greene King was investing in Hickory’s to help build it into a national dining brand.
The restaurant also aims to be family-friendly, with a cinema room showing classic kids films, an outdoor kids play area, and a frozen custard creation station – perfect for those who are kids-at-heart to enjoy too.
Hickory’s York will be open seven days a week: Monday to Fridays from 12pm to 11pm and Saturday and Sundays from 10am to 11pm.
