Plans are in to turn a religious centre into a new shop in York city centre.
The owners of what is now the York Buddhist Centre on Gillygate are asking permission to turn it into a retail unit.
This is because the Triratna Buddhist Community is moving to a new home on Walmgate.
A Grade II listed building, number 38 Gillygate is next door to the Doner Summer takeaway.
Planning documents say that the property and the land at the rear is owned by Shakyapada Jenny Roberts.
The 271 sq ft shop area would have a rent of £11,500 a year, according to letting particulars.
Prior to being the York Buddhist Centre, the unit was home to the Beautopia beauty salon.
You can see the plans and comment on the City of York Council planning portal.
