A film featuring stunning imagery of York and North Yorkshire and narrated by Sean Bean has gone viral.
Project Yorkshire: A Playground Like No Other, a movie showcasing the many virtues of the county, has been watched two million times – with one million views coming on YouTube in the first seven days of release.
It is the brainchild of filmmakers Scott Elliot and Sid Sadowskyj who produced the award-winning film Scott And Sid, which also had many York scenes.
Two years in the making, the movie has been a labour of love.
“When we saw how the pandemic was really impacting entire industries, we felt a calling – a duty to help out,” Sid said.
“We’ve been through some of the most horrific events in recent memory and such unprecedented times called for unprecedented action.
“To meet the moment, Yorkshire needs to be bold.
“So, we took an approach to pay tribute to as much of the economy as possible.
“The opportunity was there for us to help Yorkshire emerge stronger from this pandemic and we ran with the idea.”
The film, which received backing from Scarborough, Leeds, Kirklees, Bradford, Hull and East Riding, Harrogate and Calderdale councils – but not York – aims to be a “powerful catalyst to boost inward investment and tourism”.
