Acclaimed singer-songwriter Steve Earle is coming to York later this year – for a fabulous one night show.
He began his career as a songwriter in Nashville, and wrote songs for icons such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, The Pretenders, and countless others.
He released his debut record, ‘Ghost Town’, in 1986 which shot to number one on the country charts – and is now regarded as a classic of the Americana genre.
Steve Earle is at the Grand Opera House on Friday 9 June 2023.
In a career that has spanned decades, Earle went to receive consecutive Grammy awards for his subsequent album releases. He has branched across multiple artistic disciplines such as publishing a novel, acting in films and television, and hosting his own radio show.
Earle was also previously nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2010 for Outstanding Music and Lyrics in the drama series Treme.
In May 2022, Earle released his most recent album ‘Jerry Jeff’, a 10-track collection comprised of hit tracks and deep-cuts from Jerry Jeff Walker to pay tribute to the colourful cowboy troubadour who passed away in October 2021.
