A man has been rescued from a blaze at his home in York.
Firefighters from Acomb were called to the fire, off Melrosegate, at 4.13am this morning (Friday).
They found the home well alight.
The fire crew rescued the man via a first floor window and put out the blaze. He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from smoke inhalation.
The blaze has gutted his kitchen.
Firefighters say the cause of the fire is due to a faulty electrical cable feeding a kitchen appliance.
