The man who died following a collision with a taxi on Micklegate in York has been formally named as 21-year-old Robert Stephenson.
Police were called just after 2.30am on Saturday (March 26) to reports of an incident involving a Ford Mondeo taxi cab and a pedestrian.
Ambulance crews were also called and treated Mr Stephenson at the scene. He was taken by ambulance to York Hospital but sadly he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Family of Robert, who comes from the Pickering area, have issued a statement telling of their grief.
They said:
We’d like time to grieve privately and thank all our friends and family for their support and kind thoughts.
Mr Stephenson, who was socialising in York with friends, was formally identified on Saturday.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. His family is being supported by specially-trained officers.
