Man critically injured in daytime attack in York
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in York city centre.
A 15-year-old boy was also assaulted an incident which took place at about 5.30pm on Saturday 17 September outside McDonald’s on Blake Street, York.
It happened after two men became involved in an argument. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was struck in the head, and fell to the pavement, suffering serious head injuries.
He is receiving treatment in Hull Royal Infirmary, where he is in a critical condition.
The suspect, a 30-year-old man from the Cleveland area, was arrested a short time later on Coney Street, on suspicion of wounding with intent.
He was also arrested on suspicion of assault, in connection with an assault on a 15-year-old boy during the same incident. He remains in custody at this time.
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the incident, and has not already given the details to the police, to get in touch.
