A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following the fire at a York block of flats early today (Thursday, 16 April).
We reported how fire crews were called out to Naples House on Eboracum Way at 5.46am this morning.
Four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by paramedics. Two others received treatment from fire crews.
Altogether 14 people were evacuated while the fire crews put out the blaze.
It caused fire and smoke damage to the main living area of one flat, and smoke damage to the rest of the property.
The communal corridor and neighbouring flats were also smoke damaged.
Police alerted by fire crews
Police were alerted to the fire by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service at around 6.20am.
A 27 year-old man from Easingwold has since been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody for questioning.
