Man arrested after car crashes into York sports club railings – close to where children were playing
A car crashed into railings at a York sports club, near where children were playing.
It happened in Acomb on Saturday (29 May).
A local man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which concluded on Foxwood Lane at around 7.10pm.
A blue Vauxhall Astra, which police believe was being driven erratically, crashed into railings at York Rugby Club, causing significant damage. The driver left the scene before police arrived.
Fortunately nobody was hurt during the incident.
A man was arrested the same day and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Lots of children were playing in the area at the time, and police believe there may be further witnesses who have yet to come forward.
Officers also want anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the blue Vauxhall in the minutes leading up to the collision to get in touch.
The vehicles is believed to have travelled on Foxwood Lane, Gale Lane and Cornlands Road between 7pm and 7.15pm.
