A man died in the collision that closed the A64 at York this weekend, police revealed today (Monday).
The 23-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a Volkswagen van.
It happened on the westbound carriageway in the area of Askham Bryan at around 12.50am on Sunday (28 February).
It is believed that the man may have been in the area of Askham Bryan College prior to the incident.
The road was closed for nine hours on Sunday as police investigated the fatal collision.
Officers are appealing to anyone in the area who may have seen a man walking wearing a top with a distinctive pattern to contact them.
They would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage.
