A main road near York could be closed for up to four hours following a crash said to involve an ambulance.
The A1079 is closed in both directors between Wilberfoss and Kexby because of the two-vehicle accident.
It happened before 4pm today near the Jet garage, according to East Yorkshire Buses, which are being diverted through Newton on Derwent.
A witness told the York Press that it involved an ambulance going into a wall. “The doors at the back of the ambulance were wide open, there were numerous people in the back of the ambulance and the front window had gone through,” Phil Nixon told the paper.
Humberside Police tweeted: “Officers are attending to a road traffic collision between two vehicles on the A1079 Hull Road between Wilberfoss and Kexby.
“The road was closed at 3.50pm and drivers are asked to avoid the area where possible to allow for emergency services to work safely.”
East Yorkshire buses has been told the road could be closed for up to four hours.
