York Museums Trust closes attractions, Roman Festival cancelled, all activities stopped for 12 weeks

The York Museums Trust has announced its three attractions are now closed until further notice.

York Castle Museum, the Yorkshire Museum, and York Art Gallery are closed as of tonight.

Museum Gardens will continue to open daily between 7:30am and 5:30pm.

In a statement released this evening the trust bosses said:

  • York Museums Trust is continuing to follow government advice and the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors are of the utmost importance.

    We will also be cancelling all programmed activities and events for the next twelve weeks. This includes, Easter and Spring Bank holiday activities and the annual Eboracum Roman Festival.

The trust aims to share some of its collections through its social feeds,

“Together we will continue to preserve culture for you and for York, whilst caring for people’s health and wellbeing,” the statement said.
