These photographs by YorkMix photographer Richard McDougall show the early work underway on Queen’s Staith as part of the big Guildhall refurbishment.
Cranes and other infastructure are in place on the riverside.
Next week we’ll see the arrival of the crawler crane on pontoons, across the river on to the Guildhall site, which will happen next week.
Barges will deliver all the steelwork for the construction and the precast concrete floor slabs that would be near impossible to deliver by road to the Guildhall.
The £20 million renovation will turn the historic site into office space and conference rooms – while part of the south range is also being rebuilt to provide a cafe and a new riverside restaurant will be created on the north side of the site.
