Wednesday update: York’s coronavirus case rate falls below the national average

Another 43 coronavirus cases were reported in York today (Wednesday, 4 May).

That takes the cumulative case total to 64,852 – giving an overall infection rate of 30,733.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 227 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 141 (-38.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 126.1 new cases per 100,000 people (266 cases). It was 137.4 yesterday.

The English national average is 130.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 128.7.

There have been three coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (down two). The total number of deaths in the city is 483.
