Wednesday update: York records another coronavirus death

A further 135 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 4 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 17,657 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,383.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 608 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 94 (18.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 253.5 new cases per 100,000 people (534 cases in the week to 31 July). That’s down from 279.7 in the previous seven days (589 cases in the week to 24 July).

The English national average is 288.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 359.8.

There was one coronavirus death in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 4 August).

In North Yorkshire, there were 254 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 43,946 – an infection rate of 7,110.4 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,596 cases in Ryedale (up 25) – case rate 160.7 per 100K
  • 7,384 in Selby (up 42) – 258.2
  • 11,451 in Harrogate (up 74) – 265.5
  • 6,396 in Hambleton (up 34) – 248.9
  • 7,958 in Scarborough (up 37) – 288.7
  • 3,940 in Richmondshire (up 28) – 260.6
  • 4,221 in Craven (up 14) – 222.3.

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 602 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 25 July, and 34 in the previous seven days (up four).
