Wednesday update: York coronavirus rate drops below 1,600

Another 403 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 12 January).

That takes the cumulative case total to 42,312 – giving an overall infection rate of 20,051.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 3,077 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 544 (-15%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 1,563.9 new cases per 100,000 people (3,300 cases in the week to 8 January). That’s down from 1,722.7 in the previous seven days (3,635 cases in the week to 1 January).

The English national average is 1,722.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 2,007.4.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and five in the last seven days (as at 12 January).
