Wednesday update: York coronavirus deaths jump by 17 due to processing error
A further 159 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 6 April).
That takes the cumulative case total to 62,768 – giving an overall infection rate of 29,746.2 cases per 100,000 people.
In the last seven days 1,234 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 598 (-32.6%) week on week.
The rolling seven-day rate in York is 715.6 new cases per 100,000 people (1,510 cases in the week to 29 March). It was 776.7 yesterday.
The English national average is 713.2, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 651.5.
There have been 17 coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up eight). The figure is high because a processing error meant more than 2,700 deaths nationwide had not been reported before today. The total number of deaths in the city is 468.
