Wednesday update: York coronavirus case rate falls below 300

A further 87 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 28 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 17,049 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,094.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 514 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 446 (-46.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 278.7 new cases per 100,000 people (587 cases in the week to 24 July). That’s down from 505.7 in the previous seven days (1,065 cases in the week to 17 July).

The English national average is 401.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 479.2.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 28 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 243 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 42,345 – an infection rate of 6,851.3 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,500 cases in Ryedale (up 11) – case rate 254.6 per 100K
  • 7,114 in Selby (up 35) – 445.8
  • 11,008 in Harrogate (up 69) – 384.9
  • 6,176 in Hambleton (up 40) – 484.7
  • 7,668 in Scarborough (up 50) – 503.9
  • 3,796 in Richmondshire (up 24) – 405.7
  • 4,083 in Craven (up 14) – 511.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 601 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 21 July.

There were four coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 18 July, and 30 in the previous seven days (up six).
