Wednesday update: Ten more coronavirus cases confirmed in York today

Another ten coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 21 April).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,211 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,797.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 42 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 19 (82.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 15.2 new cases per 100,000 people (32 cases in the week to 17 April). That’s up from 10.9 in the previous seven days (23 cases in the week to 10 April).

The English national average is 24.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 50.2.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today, and one in the last seven days (up one / 0%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 19 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,638  – an infection rate of 4,795.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,877 cases in Ryedale (up one), 4,953 in Selby (up seven), 7,642 in Harrogate (up two), 4,187 in Hambleton (up one), 5,554 in Scarborough (up four), 2,616 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,809 in Craven (up four).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
